“SHE HAD A QUEEN TO DESTROY.”

                                                                      -C.J Redwine

Action-packed fantasy with this new Snow White retelling ! Lorelai, a princess refugee from the Evil Queen Irina will try to find a way to restore her power and overthrow the throne. But, how do you succeed against the one who taught you everything about magic? Who considers you as her real daughter ?  Betrayal, friendships, family. I loved the turn of events and my favourite thing in the book is…THE DRAGON SHIFTERS. YES. They are people who can shift to Dragons, they actually graduate from school to be able to shift properly and use their abilities to attack the enemies. Adding to that, they have twin hearts : a dragon animal heart and a human heart. Hahha awesome right ?!

we

“HE WAS FIRE,BLOOD AND DEATH.

SHE WAS PREY.”

However, what I didn’t like about the book..is the fact that I wasn’t able to connect with the characters. Weirdly, I can’t even point out why exactly. The descriptions were great, the replies were funny but maybe the author uses a little too much sentences repetition and not enough variation in the writing style. This effect can make people find the book boring even if it has a great potential. It’s the first book in the Ravenspire series so I hope in the sequel, the author can put more personnalities into the characters ! Like Trugg, he didn’t appear a lot but somehow, he was funny and noticeable. I really like how the author introduced him and with only a few words we can discern his personality. Maybe, the same thing would be great for the main characters.

Thank you to Frenzy at HarperCollins Canada for sending us an advanced review copy !

I’ve wanted to read this for awhile now. I really love repellings but, based on your review I don’t know if I’m going to read it. My connection to characters make or break my reading experience, but this is a great review!

I’m sorry for the late reply – I’ve been sick for awhile – but it’s a shame because the connection is soooo important – it’s what makes me care. You really did help me, it’s a great review 😀
