HELLO LOVELIES! ❤
What new books do you plan on reading? Are you excited for this month? We sure as hell are! Not only does this month conclude our semester, we’re also heading to Santa Monica, Los Angeles for YALLWEST!!! 😀 We still have a couple weeks before that happens, so lets not get carried away already! Here’s our latest edition of the Monthly Kick in the Butt where we show you guys what we’re currently reading, hoping to read and motivational segments just to freshly kick ourselves in the butt! 😉
LASHAAN’S GOODREADS 2016 READING CHALLENGE PROGRESSION
TRANG’S GOODREADS 2016 READING CHALLENGE PROGRESSION
LASHAAN
A lot of people tend to attribute the quote to Albert Einstein or even other famous individual from the past, but sources indicate that the origin of this famous line is quite blurry. It doesn’t really matter who said it, but what it says. Powerful as it is, it can is easily be translated to any field and help understand several behaviors. I personally find it the quote quite intriguing. Although it puts a etiquette on people for their constant repetition of behaviors without realizing the fruitless nature of their actions, it can still be appreciated on the a less serious tone. I mean, sometimes you just have to take a big step backwards and see the whole picture. You have to ponder if what you’re doing leads you somewhere or simply keeps you in a vicious inescapable circle? Don’t find yourself in a trap. Escape. Change. Emancipate.
TRANG
This quote is one of my favourite ones from Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. It makes me think about all the times that I looked like shit LOl litterally, you know the days you don’t wear any makeup, put your hair in a messy bun and just go out in sweatpants and hoodies? Yeah, those times I look in the mirror and I just go : oh hell. But, then I turn to look at my boyfriend and he always looks at me with the same eyes like he was falling in love with me all over again. That’s how beautiful love can be. It sees your true self and still loves it.
LASHAAN’S LIFE
Finals are coming. Is it just me or does that always carry as much relief as it does stress? I couldn’t be happier to be going through the last finals of my bachelor before jumping into my masters, but woh. Finals remain finals. Soon I’m going to be shoulder-deep into my textbooks, and that’s not a pleasant thought. STILL. I’m going to have to think positive and remind myself of the fun journey after finishing up with them exams. Besides summer arriving real quick, Santa Monica is waiting for me too!! I’ve always wanted to check out Los Angeles and having YALLWEST as an additional reason to head there couldn’t have been more perfect. Although this event is going to be one hell of a ride for Trang, I can’t wait to see her jump around from one line to another, signing books, buying novels and meeting bookworms! God, April sounds so hectic. But I’m ready! 😀
TRANG’S LIFE
March went by so fast like I swear I feel like I was still on my March Break LOL I felt like I didn’t do anything this month but I also know that I did a lot of things.
- I didn’t have the greatest grades on my midterms so I’m trying my best to ace my finals.
- On the other note, LASHAAN JUST GOT ACCEPTED FOR HIS MASTER IN CRIMINOLOGY PEOPLE ❤ GO EVERYONE COME AND CONGRATULATE HIM HIH ❤ I’m so proud of my boyfriend !! I’m kind of envious too because I want to graduate so bad. He deserves it all the way, one of the smartest people I know.
3. I had the chance to give out presentations for Brain Awareness week to High School students to explain the effects of drugs on the brain, lovely experience ! 🙂
Congrats Lashaan !

Totally agree for the quote. I’m hearing it a lot more nowadays in shows (I hope it doesn’t get abused anymore XD). It still remains 100% fact and epic. Thank you again! 🙂

Thank you so much!! My celebration was actually Batman Vs. Superman! 😀 😀 But once the semester is done, I’m pretty sure I’ll be rewarding myself with a bath of books and comics! *fidgeting with joy*

Is Batman V Superman good? I’ve been hearing some mixed stuff about it.
Be careful with the water! I’ve never read in the bath for that very reason 🙂

Trang – Do you guys compete to see who finish their challenge first? lol
You seem to read a bit faster, which is why I think having a higher goal is fair to Lashaan. Btw, your April TBR is better than his. 😉

AHAH naah we don’t compete against each other since we both are very aware of our reading speed 😀 Our goal is more to surpass last year’s reading challenge so every year we add a little bit more to the challenge 😉 AND HAH THANK YOU 😀

Good luck with the finals and congrats on being accepted for your criminology masters!
As a fellow criminologist, I can only wish you the best.

:O Thank you so much! That is quite a surprise. I’ve always wondered if I’d ever come across another criminologist (or anything related to the domain). Did you complete your degree? What do you do for a living? My curiosity is getting the best of me. 😀

Criminology is quite a popular choice here in Belgium – well, it’s no engineering or law, but still about 300 students start their bachelors every year.
I did complete my degree, but job opportunities outside police are few. So since I did not want to join the police, I did a second masters in psychology and now I work as a psychologist in a high school for teens diagnosed with autism.

Wow! Trang would be quite interested in hearing more on your psychology experience. I definitely understand the lack of diversified job opportunities for criminology. It is after all a pretty young field compared to psychology or sociology. There’s maybe a little more options around Quebec, here. I’m actually going for a more research oriented life in criminology. For the moment, I’m loving it!
Keep on helping teens and take care! 😀
