TRANG’S GOODREADS 2017 READING CHALLENGE PROGRESSION

I will not post mine because it was a disgrace for the month of January HAHA

“Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness. I am kind to everyone, but when someone is unkind to me, weak is not what you are going to remember about me.”

— Al Capone

Lashaan: While his reputation precedes him and putting forth a quote from him isn’t to prompt veneration for the guy (although shows and movies do a great job in making us enjoy his presence), I still thought this particular quote was… on point. I mean, I strongly believe this applies to my life. So careful peepz. If you’ve managed to trigger me somehow, do not cross paths with me. 😉

TRANG

Trang : This is an important reminder that if you keep doing it that’s what matters. It’s not about doing it fast or having successful results. It’s about not giving up!

LASHAAN’S LIFE

January was the beginning of my winter semester. It is also the last semester with courses/seminars before I go into a one-year’ish period of redaction for my memoir (I know some of you people prefer calling it a thesis even if it’s for a Master’s degree). Got to say that every one of my courses require me to realize a written essay by the end of the semester. That’s around four different essays to do, with similar deadlines! Gosh, I can already feel the weight of all those papers on me. However, the year definitely seems fun up till now. Hopefully things continue this way! 😀

Only got one thing to tell you Mr. Winter Semester.

TRANG’S LIFE

Oh damn Lashaan…that motivation though HAHA For my part,  I started my winter semester too. But I took like 6 classes…I know. *shoot myself* 6 classes in university it’s pretty rough. I decided to go to all my classes this semester I DID IT FOR NOW WOOHOO. This is coming from a girl who used to not go to class at all Hahaha. The end of January was tougher for me. I got sick pretty bad and then received the  bad new about my grandmother passing  away. She was living  in Vietnam so not being able to say goodbye hurts as much. I end up spending the Lunar New Year in an empty house  because my parents flew to Vietnam for  the funeral.

Sounds like you both have an interesting month ahead of you. I hope you both manage to get through some amazing books throughout February and for the rest of the year as well. 🙂
Lashaan, good luck with your memoir/thesis for you masters. It sounds like a lot of work but I’m sure it will all be worth it in the end. Also I love the quote you picked from Al Capone as well, definitely on point but words to live by in a certain way I guess.
Trang, I’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother, it’s always hard losing a family member in any way. I hope you’re doing a little better now. Also I hope you enjoy The Midnight Star, I have the whole of that series on my to-read list and really need to get around to it soon.

Thank you so much Beth! 😀 Al Capone has been soo often portrayed by actors in movies and TV shows that it can be easy for people to forget he was real and not fictional. So odd to cite him, but his words do have the sharpness of a blade and are definitely something to keep in mind concerning certain people, especially the tranquil and gentle ones! 😉
