MY RATING: ★★★★/5
Hi guyss 😀 I’m back with a quick review ! (I’M ON FIREE)
Goodreads Blurb: Star D’Aplièse is at a crossroads in her life after the sudden death of her beloved father—the elusive billionaire, affectionately called Pa Salt by his six daughters, all adopted from across the four corners of the world. He has left each of them a clue to her true heritage, and Star nervously decides to follow hers, which leads her to an antiquarian bookshop in London, and the start of a whole new world.
Goodreads rating: 4.43 with 1,572 ratings
This novel is the 3rd in the Seven Sisters series. But, I haven’t read the other two and I still got to enjoy this one. The novel can easily be a standalone novel because every book describes the perspective of a specific sister. The author makes it easy for you to follow, and as their stories are completely different, you don’t miss a lot of what’s been going on before.
I must say, I was pretty lucky to fall on the 3rd novel because this story is a BOOKWORM DREAM. Star’s treasure hunting locations are in bookshops, ballrooms and many more of the countryside beauties. If you liked the settings in Jane Austen’s books, this one is a must ❤ Every scene has perfect amount of descriptions : enough for you to visualize it in your head but still have space for your creative imagination.
The characters are the book’s strength. Star is such a delicate, shy and introvert sister. I guess that’s why it is called The Shadow Sister. Unlike her other sisters, she’s very in her own bubble, not trying to make a scene and wisely be in her own ways. The side characters (Orlando and Mouse) were funny and witty. The author really takes the time to fully develop her characters. When you finish the book, you feel a little sad for leaving them behind. My favourite part is reading how two women (Flora and Star) reaching out to each other even if there are decades between them. That’s how you know an author mastered her own story but also the writing that goes with it.
