Star Wars : PHASMA // From a Certain Point Of View

I’m coming back not with one but 2 reviews today for 2 STAR WARS BOOKS ๐Ÿ˜€ I’ve only recently jumped into the Star Wars fan wagon after rewatching all the movies (not that I’m impressed with the graphics it was rather funny LOL) but I think the comics sparkled the fascination in me for this world. That’s why I was pretty excited when Penguin Random House sent me these two books for review (big thank you to them!)

I WAS SO EXCITED TO READ THIS BOOK! Because Captain Phasma just looks like a frkn badass one and I was so disappointed when she just spoke like 2 lines in Rogue one -__-

what to expect

  • ย A full action-packed book. It was so much fun to read!! I feel like living in the movie and you get to PEW PEW AND SHOOT EVERYONE (Warning: I’m not doing the book any justice it’s only my excitement and enthusiasm speaking here). No but for real, the suspense combined with humour and fast paced is always a win for me.
  • We get to see a lot more of Phasma’s personality. Thisย just confirms how ruthless, violent and driven she is and can be SUCH A MANIPULATIVE SMART-ASS when she needs to. Exactly what I need in my villains.
  • The story is not told by Phasma. But by Vi, a former spy. This is the main reason why it did wonderfully for me. The story it is told like A LEGEND. I have the vibe of The Arabian Nights tone in here and THAT MY FRIEND, IS EVERYTHING I EVER LOVED. I seem to always be impressed when authors decide to write novels in this style ( like Strange The Dreamer).

fromacertainpointofviewbookreviewIn celebrating the 40 years of Star Wars, Penguin Random House has reunited different authors and asked them to write stories from the perspective of the side characters. The story starts out right after Rogue One Movie and the story is about Star Wars: A New Hope (duh). It was fun for me because it’s a fresh take on the movie since we have different people’s perspective who come from different planets. I’ve learnt a lot about the world of Star Wars in those pages. A lot of questions I had are answered. But in Star Wars fashion.. it also created new ones T_Tย

Like a lot of short stories collection out there, it’s not perfect. The authors writings and skills pop out almost instantly. I knew already which ones I liked and which ones I’d rather not continue reading. My advice is this: if you decide to read this book, DO NOT GIVE UP. Because there are great stories in this one worthwhile. Ignore the bullshit ones hahaha. Some just didn’t make an effort and literally didn’t add anything new nor relevant to the story *cough cough Meg Cabot*. My favourite one is from Ken Liu and like his old fashioned style, he went on with a programmer’s side of the story and IT IS HILARIOUS. So good! You get to see how The Empire programs work and what kind of technology they used in order to perform a certain task.

I’m a huuuuugeeeee Star Wars fan, so it is always nice to read reviews for books on them. I haven’t yet read these, but there are quite a number of novels that I have read set in the galaxy far far away. I highly recommend Bloodline by Claudia Grey. That was a really fun novel and a rather unique one as well. It also introduced a couple of very cool characters. I’m adding Phasma to my to read list (the other one was already there lol๐Ÿ˜€). Great post!

I bought the entire collection a while back (of the books based on the first 6 movies) for my nephew and he was so excited. I haven’t read any myself but I’m a huge fan of the movies, especially the recent ones. Great reviews!

If you liked the short story aspect of A certian point of view, you might might want to check out the Tales trilogy edited by Kevin Anderson and the Empire/new republic Tales duology edited by Peter Schweighofer.

Oh great review for both of these books Trang, I had no idea either was being released by now I definitely have to check them out myself. I am a massive Star Wars fan (recently my interest has been re-ignited with the newest movie releases) so I need to check these books out.
I’m glad even the short stories interested you, I tend to find short stories and short story collections somewhat hit and miss but I’m sure these ones will be more hit than miss for me as well.
    Again great reviews! ๐Ÿ˜€

Ok so maybe it is time for me to rethink reading Star Wars. I loved the films growing up, but if I am honest, I have avoided all of the books at all costs. I am just so afraid haha. It sounds like these might be a nice intro though?

Not sure exactly when I’ll get to it, but this is one book I want to read for sure. The comic miniseries taking place between the Force Awakens and The Last Jedi is also pretty good.

Hi there ! A great way to start is to spend time on other blogs of the same genre as yours and leave genuine comments. Say a few words about their posts. Bloggers usually donโ€™t like it if you leave them only links.. Because it doesnโ€™t show that you actually read their content or not. The blogging platform is dedicated to interactions. So you have to prioritize that ๐Ÿ™‚
