BEST BOOK OF THE MONTH

Trang

A tie with Dear Martin too!ย  You can read all about it in my review ๐Ÿ™‚ย

Lashaan

Easily one of the best books I read this monthโ€”even this year! Check out my review to find out why. ๐Ÿ˜€

LEAST FAVOURITE BOOK OF THE MONTHย

The_Dark_Knight_III-The_Master_Race

It actually wasn’tย  a bad story arc, but it is unfortunately my least favourite of the month! My review for more on my thoughts by clicking here. ๐Ÿ˜€

BEST MOVIES/SHOWS OF THE MONTH

Trangย

Already at Season 7 and everything just got better! This show is so fun to watch from the beginning to the end, the character’s development was just so amazing! Not only the main character but EVERY character .ย

Lashaan

Peaky Blinders: I actually wanted to start this show a while back when I heard about Cillian Murphy and his performance in it. I’ve seen him in a lot of movies, but a bad-ass protagonist? I just had to. But when I found out that Tom Hardy was in season 2, it was IMPOSSIBLE to resist. ๐Ÿ˜€

Power Rangers: The show was a HUGE part of my childhood so a live-action adaptation of it would only get scrutinized by me. When critics bashed it hard, I ended up waiting for it to release on Netflix. Now that it did… Now that I saw it with the fam… I was actually stunned! This was far more fun than I thought it would be!

CURRENTLY READING

Trang

ย Lashaan

A Darker Shade of Magic: So far so good. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m curious about how it’ll all end!

A Map of the Dark: A much needed break in-between them fantasy bricks I’m reading. Hopefully it delivers a good story!

TO BE READ

Trang

Kings of the Wyld: So much praise went around for this book. Super psyched to see the banter and awesomeness of them boyz.

Words of Radiance: I mean.. Come on… After The Way of Kings, of course I was going to pick up the next book!

PERSONAL LIVES

Trang

DECEMBER WAS EXHAUSTING.ย  I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS OKAY. But this year was mixed up with work and family Christmas parties here and there, in total of 4 suppers back to back I had to attend hahaha. You can see that I didn’t write posts as much as November ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Lashaan

As expected, December was even busier than November was! But busy is nice when it keeps you proactive. Crazy that December is coming to an end though. 2017 went by in a flash and it feels like it was an insane year. I think everything to come will have to be managed differently, especially time-wise. Maybe I should try and read twice as many books in 2018.

It seems like you both had a good December, even if it was a busy one as well (I know the feeling, I feel like my blogging has fallen to the side to make room for everything that December and Christmas bring with it!)
Lashaan I really hope you love A Darker Shade of Magic, it’s pretty much my all-time favourite series so I can’t wait to see what you do think of it, and Trang I am so excited for Iron Gold to be released as well, it sounds incredible and based on Pierce Brown other’s books it’s going to be an amazing story as well.
Great recap, and I hope you both had a great new year as well. ๐Ÿ˜€ โค

Great Wrap up! December has been a busy month for me too but it’s pretty impressive how you guys still managed to blog. I loved Flame in the Mist and I really hope you enjoy it too Trang!
Lashaan: I haven’t read ADSOM yet but It’s been in my tbr for a long time. I’ll definitely look forward to hear your thoughts on it. I enjoyed the new power rangers movie but I didn’t love it.
Anyway, I hope you both have a wonderful New year! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hopefully I’ll be able to convince you to finally give ADSOM a go. ๐Ÿ˜›
Power Rangers wasn’t a perfect movie at all, but it was fun. I’d sum it up as a “Cheesy as hell good movie” though. ๐Ÿ˜€

Ok, so are we going to be treated to a Power Rangers the Movie Review?

And for all the talk of being super busy, you two certainly pushed out a lot of posts. I felt overwhelmed on your behalf just reading this post ๐Ÿ˜€

Nop! Hahaha I didn’t plan on watching it to review it. Maybe someday soon I’ll have a sudden urge to review it though. Who knows? ๐Ÿ˜€ It was one of those popcorn movies I wanted to watch when I didn’t want to do any thinking. It wasn’t however a bad movie as so many claim it was. It was very cheesy, but fun and sometimes nostalgic. ๐Ÿ˜€ They could’ve done so much better, but you know.. Hollywood likes to shit on these types of movies.

Hahahahah you had me laugh out loud with that. It isn’t THAT impressive. It would’ve been even longer if Trang didn’t have to cancel some of her posts (I had to force to skip on some posts in order to rest because of life keeping her busy as hell).

Same here. I know you had loads of expectations for it and wasn’t as impressed as you had hoped you would be, but I do hope it’ll somewhat be an awesome adventure though! ๐Ÿ˜€
Hahaha that’s why Netflix is awesome. Some movies just pop up and remind me of my interest for them. It was good, but not in the traditional sense of it… This was… cheesy good. Hahah You should greatly lower your expectations and I think you’ll enjoy it more. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sounds like you guys had a busy and productive month! I am amazed by how many reviews you guys posted in December!!
That’s great that you are enjoying A Darker Shade of Magic, Lashaan! That is one of my favourite series this year. I was hooked after book 1 and had to read the rest of the series. Hope you will enjoy it as much as I did ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Sophie! Thanks! It’s actually very surprising for us too. Even though we thought we’d dish out even more than that.
I do hope to complete the series in 2018. It has been on my TBR for too long and seeing so much love go around for it has made me too curious to skip on it. ๐Ÿ˜€ Happy New Year to you too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Bro. I really hoped it would get huge praise by critics and turn out successful in the box office. The reception it got stopped me from checking it out in theaters but I’m glad to have checked it out. It’s not a horrible movie, but it’s “cheesy” good. It had a couple nostalgic moments, even a nice after-credits scene giving us hope for a sequel, a good one. Hope you enjoy it when you get the chance to see it. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on it if you try it out sir.

While I’m at it, I’d like to wish ya a wonderful New Year, Chris. I am glad to have met you and shared so much with you on comics, shows and movies. I hope 2018 has plenty of wonderful things in store for you and that we’ll continue to stick around and discuss on everything we share a passion for. Happy New Year, sir! ๐Ÿ˜€

Same to you my friend, all the best for 2018 and our continued interactions on all things comics, film, tv etc…lots to look forward to as always!

Will definitely check out Power Rangers at some point in the next few weeks, from what I hear the toy sales are keeping the possibility of a sequel alive.

Glad you enjoyed Peaky Blinders. I binge-watched the first 2 seasons last year and I looove Cillian Murphy. How did you like Marissa Meyer’s new book? I’ve been eyeing it every time I visit the book store but I’ve heard mixed reviews about it, and I’d hate to compare her works.

Oh my God! No way! So glad to hear you watched it too. I honestly didn’t expect anyone to have tried it out and even mention it to me! ๐Ÿ˜› Have you continued the series? Season 4 just completed and I can’t wait to start it. ๐Ÿ˜€ I feel like it is one of those rare shows that actually gets better every season. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

P.S. We might have rarely had the chance to communicate–I feel like the last time we talked it was over Patrick Ness’ Chaos Walking trilogy–but I’d like to wish you a Happy New Years! I hope 2018 has plenty of amazing books waiting for you! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hahahah it is surprising isn’t it??? Maybe the only thing that can compete with your “number of books read”, relatively-speaking!!! ๐Ÿ˜› You have to give The Way of Kings a shot! Peaky Blinders is actually one of those rare shows that gets better every season! It also had me adapting and unintentionally talking with an intense accent for days!!! ๐Ÿ˜› Have a wonderful January gurl and HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2017 wouldn’t have been the same without your presence and unique humour!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s ridiculous how happy I am to see the Power Rangers movie here! I felt like most of my friends slept on it and I was so angry because I LOVED it. I was legitimately in the movie theatre bouncing up and down with giddiness. All of that was made easier because there were only TWO other people in the cinema at the time. Such a freaking shame!
I am going to read The Hate U Give this month and I am so excited, because I’ve only heard good things about it from everyone around me.

Hahahaah yaaass!!! I have friends who agree too, although one of them would’ve preferred if they stuck more closely to the source material with the way they morphin’ time hahah But man, the movie had plenty of moments that me laughing out loud, it was just cheesy good! Hopefully the sequel will be better appreciated. ๐Ÿ˜€

Cillian Murphy + Tom Hardy = Can’t miss! I don’t even care what they do. I’d watch them eat breakfast all day or do their laundry.

I started ‘A Darker Shade of Magic’ as well this month. So far I can’t really say a lot ๐Ÿ˜€ But I like the concept of different Londons. Hope it’s gonna be a good start of the year for us ๐Ÿ™‚

Pretty productive month for being so busy ๐Ÿ˜‰ You guys are making us look bad haha. I am pretty sure I missed a ton of posts. I am sorry for that. For unexpected hurdles during my break have me at a near standstill. But all should be better next month (so they are telling me).

I have been contemplating Peaky Blinders forever. It has been on my queue for months. I need to just commit!

Trang – I have a copy of Flame in the Mist here so I hope you can sing oraise for it.

Lashaan – you are in for a treat with Kings of the Wyld! One of my faves!
