Book Blogger Insider Tag

Hello ladies and gentlemen!

I feel like it has been years since a tag has graced Bookidote and there isn’t a better occasion than today to profit from the little time I have now to squeeze one into my schedule. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you so much to the one and only Orangutan-Librarian forย this! If you have never had the chance to be in awe by this monkey’s eloquent writing style and wonderful sense of humour, then you’ve clearly been living under a rock! Go visit that blog as soon as you can! ๐Ÿ˜

1) Where do you typically write your blog posts?

I always write my blog posts at my desk and on my computer. In fact, I like to believe it’s my Batcave. ๐Ÿ˜

2) How long does it generally take you to write a book review?

I’ve always tried to avoid looking at the time when I start a book review since I know I like to take my time with them, but if we take into consideration all the picture-taking, editing, draft-copy-writing and revision-doing, I’d say it would maybe take me a grand total of 5 hours. But I can assure you I can do it in 1! ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

3) When did you start your book blog?

July 2015! It’ll almost be 4 years since Bookidote was born. My, how time flies! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

4) What is the worst thing about having a book blog in your opinion?

Not having enough time to drop by every single one of your blogs on a regular basis! Sometimes you just wish you were a highly-sophisticated artificial intelligence with acute multi-tasking skills!

5) What is the best thing about having a book blog in your opinion?

Ahhh, if it weren’t for the insane support you guys show all the time, this wouldn’t be one of the best hobbies out there! ๐Ÿ˜Š

6) What blog post have you had the most fun writing so far?

I usually have fun writing all of them, but I guess I’ll just go with the last bookish post I took the time to do!

Check it out here: โ€œWhat Makes a Good Book-to-Film Adaptation?โ€

7) What is your favourite type of blog post to write?

As odd as it may be a bit obvious from the kind of content I dish out all the time, reviews are my favourite posts to write! It’s my ultimate creative outlet and I doubt it’ll change anytime soon! ๐Ÿ˜‹

8) When do you typically write?

I’m a very nocturnal person and my most brilliant ideas come out at night, past midnight. But… it has to be before 4 in the morning. After that, brilliance turns into madness. ๐Ÿ™„

9) Do you review every book you read?

I try to review all the novels I read but I do not review all the comics and manga I read. That would be just too much for this blog. You can always find my thoughts on everything on Goodreads though. I always leave a word or two on everything I read there. ๐Ÿ˜

10) How do you write your book reviews? With a cup of coffee or tea? With Netflix? Cuddled with your fur baby?

I’m usually focused on my desktop computer, typing away everything that goes through my mind. I don’t really have any particular habit while writing book reviews, but I usually have instrumental music going โ€œhardโ€ in the background. ๐Ÿ˜‚

11) When do you write your book reviews? Right after finishing the books? Two weeks after finishing the book?

I usually always write them right after finishing the book or a day after. The extra day gives me enough time to really gather my thoughts and write something remotely coherent. ๐Ÿ˜‹

12) How often do you post?

I usually always have 3 to 4 posts per week, occasionally back-to-back and I leave the rest to my co-blogger. I find this works best with what I want to share with everyone without overloading myself! ๐Ÿ˜

Hope this wasn’t too bad for the first tag in countless years! I’ll now tag (without attaching any obligation to do it):

  • Hahaha, batcave ๐Ÿ˜‚. Love it! I should find a suitable name for my lil corner too. Cuz now it’s just referred to as the messy corner of the living room.

    Thanks for the tag!!!

  • Thanks for the tag, BookBats ๐Ÿ˜‰ Nocturnal habits, detective skills, hard instrumental music.. I’m guessing Zimmer from Nolan’s trilogy ๐Ÿ˜› And yeah, 5 hours may be on the long side, but not beyond our routine ๐Ÿ˜‰ That’s why we only post once a week! ๐Ÿ˜‚

    • No problemo! ๐Ÿ˜€ Hahhah love the sound of BookBats. I know what pseudonym to go by if I ever need to in the future. ๐Ÿ˜› And absolutely right about the music!

Ohhhhh, but working a post with another person definitely explains the 5 hours too! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Wow five hours to write a review (if you discount what you said about getting it done in one hour I mean) seems like such a long time to me, but yeah I imagine the pictures you take (which are always amazing BTW) take up a lot of that time. Normally my reviews are done in an hour, and yeah like you I always try and get to them shortly after I finish a book, but I’ve been slumping on writing them so I’m seriously behind at the moment. Oh well. ๐Ÿ™‚
Also yay for nocturnal writers! I’m always more awake in the evenings so it’s when my brain focuses enough for me to actually write anything. I’m not coherent until about 11am most days! Sucks when I have to work really early.
Great answer for this tag Lashaan, and thanks for the tag too. ๐Ÿ™‚ โค

    • Aww man, I truly appreciate the kind words on those pictures. I always end up feeling like I’m wasting my time with them, but because I sort of like the consistancy and how pretty it sometimes (or always hahah) turns out, I just keep on putting time into doing them. Ahhh yes the slumps are definitely dangerous when you prefer reviewing as soon as possible! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I’d always try and do a draft with just words or ideas somewhere (word document or on wordpress) just so I don’t forget them.

Hahahah yess! Love that so many of us are nocturnal writers. ๐Ÿ˜› I envy those who can do in the morning though. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Thanks for reading and it’s my pleasure! Just adding an extra tag to your probably-huge backlog! ๐Ÿ˜€

      • No definitely not, I always love seeing pictures on peopleโ€™s reviews so I appreciate the effort that goes into them. Iโ€™d love to do them on my reviews but I never have the time/motivation. This weekend Iโ€™m going to force myself to sit down and actually write them. It feels like the only thing thatโ€™d work.
Thatโ€™s all right, and Iโ€™ll get around to them all eventually. It will just take me a little (probably long) while. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • I admire that you can write your review so soon after finishing a book, I always take AGES to write my reviews and… when I finally do, I regret everything because I can’t remember all the details hahaha.
Lovely answers for this tag!! ๐Ÿ™‚ โค

    • Hahahaah I fear losing all my ideas if I let it stall long than a week! ๐Ÿ˜› I have 2 books that have suffered that life, but it’s mostly because they were buddy-read with my co-blogger and she sort of postponed them all to forever and it never saw life. ๐Ÿ˜› Thanks for reading, Marie! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • Lashaan can’t believe I missed this post… And I am tagged?!!! I am generally so slow on doing them. Keeping this bookmarked for next year. Thank you so much… I am a sloth in tags ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  • You can definitely tell you take the time to write your reviews. They are always so thoughtful and insightful and well written. I definitely feel like I could take a little more time when I write mine. I am never happy with them, but I hit “publish” anyways. Fun tag!

    • Waaaahhh! Thatโ€™s incredibly kind of you!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Really appreciate that you even take the time to read anything I write though. Even if it isnโ€™t something youโ€™d typically pick up. Really appreciate it! But I do have to admit that there are times that Iโ€™m not satisfied with what I publish too hahah I just hit that publish button before the clock strikes 12! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • Great answers on an amazingly sensible tag. I try to review everything within a couple of days of when I read them, but since I too usually take around 5 hours to write a review – a lot of that is rereading a large portion of the book looking for one fact or name, or a good quote to include – I have gotten really far behind in the last month.

Hope you guys have a really great year next year!

    • Thanks Lora! ๐Ÿ˜€ I totally understand. There was a title where I used to include spoilers, invisible unless highlighted, and had even lengthier reviews too. I loved those days, but those were the times were I could put a lot of time into it and write even more on themes and what not that I really wanted to point out. I find my current review length and time-spent to be the most optimal in terms of satisfaction, fun and somewhat quality too. I just like structure and how a person conveys their thoughts. It’s why I’m even more appreciative of everyone of you who take the time to even read ONE of my reviews.

Thank YOU for still sticking around. I feel like it’s been ages since we’ve known each other. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Hope you have a wonderful 2019 too, Lora! ๐Ÿ˜€
