Hi there!
Who doesn’t love writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Fiona Staple’s critically-acclaimed comic book series Saga? If anything, their hiatus has probably eaten away at whatever remaining patience anyone has had today. Thankfully, he has been doing comic books for a while now and another of his beloved, completed, however, comic book series is Paper Girls.
With news of a live-action TV series set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video, with Sofia Rosinsky (Fast Layne), Camryn Jones (Pacific Rim: The Black), Riley Lai Nelet (Altered Carbon) and Fina Strazza (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) rumoured to star as the lead squad, everyone should look into catching up on this engrossing young adult science-fiction comic book series that could turn out to be the next Stranger Things if done right!
You can find out more about my thoughts by visiting me over on my blog here:

Brian K. Vaughan’s comics are some of my favourites, but somehow I’ve still not given this one a go…

I can only highly recommend testing it out! It’s wild like Saga but not as vulgar and intense. It really is “the next Stranger Things” kinda thing. 😀

Okaaaaay, MacAuliffe is wearing her spacesuit, in heaven. That is quite, umm, original? Hahahaha.
I think not finishing Saga is going to really bite them in the back.

Hahahaha it has funky moments like those throughout the whole series. And yes. I do hope they don’t give up on it. That would be a disaster. It all ended on a massive cliffhanger too. But all we can do now is wait. And re-read. 😛

I’m not sure if I’ve tried anything by Vaughan or this group yet. Saga is one I’ve been curious about but so far not enough to have purchased or read it. Glad to see you enjoyed this one.

Saga is a favourite of mine and I can only recommend it highly. It’s shocking at every flip of the page. You can tell if it’s a hit or miss with just the first volume too. Paper Girls is much more tamed though. Hopefully, your first Vaughan will be a good one. Ex Machina is another fun one by him. And in Marvel’s world, he also did a beloved Runaways series. Loads of options for you right there! 😛

You ever read Y, The Last Man? That’s one I remember seeing in comic stores long ago and hearing good things about it. I’ve not yet tried it, though.

Oh yes, I have!!! I had completely forgotten that Brian K. Vaughan was behind that one! And speaking of Y: The Last Man, the day after you made this comment, they released a trailer for the new TV series based on it and it looks super promising (as in, super authentic and glued to the source material); you should check out that trailer (or wait till I put it up in my anticipation post for September hahah). I definitely enjoyed the first volumes of it but I never got around to finishing it up. Might have to fix that now though.

These seem so random. The strips you shared made me laugh.
“Oh, Missy is in hell.” was a good one.
Hiding money behind an encyclopedia made me think of the old times when everything was so much simpler.
Looks like fun!

It’s a trip through time. Emphasis on trip. The psychedelic kind. 😀 I had fun going through this confusing journey and can’t say I was disappointed by what I got. 😀 Thanks for reading!

Haven’t tried this yet; I guess the mixed reviews I read made me a bit wary. But looks like you had a blast, Lashaan, so I’ll be cautiously optimistic 😁

You’ll probably have to be in the right mood for the zaniness of things throughout this series but it progressively gets into that. It won’t hurt to test out volume 1 at least. 😀

This sounds interesting but I wouldn’t like it if the end of the series is not all revealing. It’s great this was enjoyable. Amazing reviews!

Definitely going to be something you can only tell once you get there! Thanks for reading, Yesha! 😀

Oof. For real. Missing Saga so much. T_T
I actually already own volume 1 of Paper Girls but have yet to read it (the shame, I know) but your post makes me really want to finally check it out. Cool to know that it will be a show too! 🙂

Tell me about it. I’m contemplating re-reading the whole series again right now! Ohhh, you should definitely try it out. I’m sure you’ll notice some similarities in style with Saga but without all the intensity of Saga. 😛 Thanks for reading!
