  • Glad to hear you got a bit of a break toward the end of the month! Your life has been so hectic so far this year, you need all the breaks you can get! I hope September is a bit calmer and a lot cooler for you. We finally had a break in the heat here over the weekend, and with some of the rain we’ve needed. I’m looking forward to seeing your review for The Maleficent Seven, as I’m curious but haven’t heard much about it.

    • It has been such a wild year but I won’t lie that the opposite (uneventful) would have been a bit depressing for me. I just need to battle through this one and hope 2022 will give me more respite as a reward. As someone who does not enjoy the company of rain unless looking through a window from home, it was such a relief to get some after that intense heatwave in august! I too haven’t seen many speak of it and hopefully, I’ll be able to help some people decide if it’s something for them or not! Thanks Kim for your kind words. I hope you have a fantastic month of September too! 😀

    I’m going to look up that Pig movie. I can’t remember if I heard of it.

  • “I don’t know why I even keep up with these when they have been subpar so far, six volumes in…” That made me chuckle. “I’m not enjoying this, I just want to finish the show,” I said the other day. I think it might be because we sometimes desperately need an escape. Somewhere where we are able to relax, and into something that will take our minds off other things. Sometimes we just latch on and don’t want to let go…

  • Sorry to hear that August was kind of draining, but I hope you’ll have a great September either way. Kudos to you for sticking to the Stranger Things books for 6 volumes, despite not liking them very much haha

    • Thanks, Kat. I sometimes wonder how I even had months of intense reading before 2021 now but I look forward to when I’ll finally be able to just eat, read, and sleep! 😛 And yeh, I guess I’m too much of a completionist to give up on these short spin-off titles. Might also be the anticipation of the next season of Stranger Things. 😛

        • Them being grown-ups today must be a challenge in some way for the story too. I imagine there’s going to be a time jump to make it all more credible. 😮 I just hope they don’t stretch themselves thin and ruin the series with an unnecessary story. The show needs to end strong before it’s too late (which is pretty much the case for a lot of fans)!

  • Wow, it sounds like you had a very busy and hectic month Lashaan, glad you had a bit of a break near the end. If you weather was like ours then I totally understand. It was even too hot to go in the pool some days. I like the high 70s we are getting now. Hopefully September will be a bit calmer for you. BTW: Ixnay on the early snow!!!

    • Thanks Carla! I’m anticipating something similar for September and more respite towards the second half of it too. Oh man, that’s pretty much what it’s like in some European countries too. People just wake up super late, eat lunch around teatime, go swimming to stay alive, and mostly hang out at night because of how much cooler it is! Not a lifestyle I would be able to embrace at this moment hahah

  • I’m really glad to hear you enjoyed A Silent Voice. I loved that film, but as you said it could be emotionally overwhelming, but such a powerful story and well worth watching. You keep getting busier and busier, eh? The new normal, as folks keep saying? 🙂 I’m with you on wishing for the cooler weather, and knock on wood, it appears to be on its way, pulling 2022 on with it.

    • Right? The first segment really makes an effort to bring us to hate the protagonist for the things he does and then the sudden rupture and transition into the future to make us appreciate the effort he puts into trying to fix how he sees the world is emotionally torturing!

      Ha! I’m also excited to see all the exciting content with snow you’ll have for us this time too! Let’s hope September will bring us new adventures and a sense of accomplishment by the end of it. 😀
