Summer Movies Review

You will go in for a treat today for I'll be reviewing 5 movies woohoo! 😀 Don't worry, I'll keep it short and straight to the point.

wondewoman

Finally, another superhero movie with a female as the main character ❤ ! You get to see her childhood, to fully grown fierce woman who has to decide her own fate. Gal Gadot nailed it in every way.  Plus, women warriors kicking ass and fighting . I went out of the movies theatre and wanted to be an Amazon so badly.

I've never seen a superhero so empathic and having the biggest moral clarity ever, some would mistake it even for naivety.

slice

The only thing that I didn't like is the villain. As we discover his identity, I thought the character in the movie was not really fit for the real villain we should be seeing from the comics. He lacks..that OP VIBE you know? Also, too much bad CGI for Wonder Woman's fighting scene… so the fighting seems less natural in some scene,  I'm sure she'll be just fine without too much graphic effects. Continue reading

Upcoming Superhero Movies and How to Prepare For Them (Chapter 2)

HELLO WONDERFUL PEOPLE!

I really hope everyone is enjoying their summer to the fullest! Personally it has been pretty hectic with work as free time became quite a luxury! Nothing to worry about though. Come July, the world will still keep on spinning and superhero movies will keep on coming out by the dozen! 😀

Way back in November, I started this feature with the very first chapter and had a feeling that it would be nice to help compile a list of upcoming superhero movies that are soon going to hit the theaters (first trailers are already launched) and get people psyched for all the superhero goodies that both DC Comics and Marvel have in store for us! Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2 – Cinedote

MY RATING: ★ (3.4) /5

There’s this unspoken myth that the sequels can never top the first movie? But somehow, Marvel succeeds to eradicate that myth because in some of their movies, the sequels were actually better or vice versa. It’s hard to tell for me when I finished watching the vol.2 of the Guardians of The Galaxy. It was better in a way but also less amazing in another way. Let me explain.

right

My first thoughts when I come out of the movie:  I LOVE IT. I mean wow, BABY GROOT?! I think this CGI alone can win everyone’s heart. Marvel knew it and even the villains couldn’t get pass his adorable face. It’s a family friendly experience and they did right by their target. I couldn’t stop laughing and giggling about how adorable Baby Groot was, because omg I don’t want to spoil anything but he was so precious in the opening scene.

Legion Season 1 Episode 1 First Impressions

poster 1

Summary: A troubled young man battling mental illness wonders if the visions he experiences are real following a strange encounter with a fellow patient.

Director: Noah Hawley (for this episode)

Writers: Noah Hawley (creator and writer for this episode), Chris Claremont (based on the Marvel comics by) and Bill Sienkiewicz (based on the Marvel comics by)

Stars: Dan Stevens, Rachel Keller, Aubrey Plaza, and more.

Mind-bending, unconventional and absolutely stylish, Legion (2017-) is every X-Men fan’s dream come true. For those of you who didn’t know, Legion is the first X-Men live-action TV series aired on FX. Based on David Haller, also known as Legion, and created by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, the show explores the character’s mental struggles as he tries to understand his own mind. While the show isn’t in continuity with the X-Men movies, Legion still shares the same universe, but lives and breaths in a parallel reality. There is but one element that connects these two worlds and it lies in David Haller’s parents, a secret well-kept throughout the show. Finding out who that is is only half the fun. However, the show will brilliantly clue you in to the big revelation, but fans of X-Men will already know the answer and binge this show for its mere masterful story-telling and visual craftiness.

Netflix and Marvel have been pouring out superhero shows for quite some time now. Every character introduced added a whole new story that hinted to a bigger and unknown enemy that would emerge from its darkness when the time will come. Just like the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Justice League in the DC Extended Universe or the Legends of Tomorrow in the DC TV shows, these Netflix shows have been preparing fans for the arrival of the Defenders, a neighbourhood-level team of superheroes built around the four heroes that have so far gotten their first seasons out on Netflix: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

Captain America: Civil War- Comics VS Movie

themovie

Captain America: Civil War the Movie – 5 stars

I FREAKING LOVE THIS MOVIE. I may also be biased since I’m a Marvel Fan, but Lashaan (DC biggest fan) also gave it a 90% so that’s something right? 😉

fas  Having watched Captain America The Winter Soldier, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, I can confirm that IT WOULD HELP if you watched these movies before this one haha. I haven’t watched any Iron Man movies but I was still familiar with the characters and storylines in the movie so.. I guess you don’t have to watch them, but it can definitely help.  Continue reading

Daredevil: Devil at Bay vol.1 by Mark Waid

Vol .1 Devil at Bay : ★★★ 1/2 ☆

Once again, I don’t own the trade paperback since I prefer collecting the comics issues. But for those of you who prefer reading it at once, I recommend you to go for the volume 1, which collects #0.5, #1, #1.5, #2, #3, #4 and #5.

First, this series of Daredevil started in 2014, a title from the new campaign Marvel NOW! For those of you who don’t know, Marvel NOW is a project to reboot all ”the biggest names and greatest characters in comics”, you can find more information about it here. In short, Marvel NOW is to Marvel’s what the New 52 is to DC comics.

Marvels by Kurt Masiek

(c) Bookidote

MARVELS: ★★★★☆

I’ve always told people that I’m a huge Marvel fan only because I love X-Men. Since I was a child, I’ve been reading X-Men comics and watching the cartoon. But as I grew up, I realized that I knew nothing about other Marvel superheroes except the ones mentioned in X-Men. This is why I started to look around on where to begin Marvel comics. Comics are a large world. You can’t possibly read every single comic out there. That’s why to enjoy it, you have to inform yourself and get a basic knowledge on where to start. I searched about some Marvel essentials and a lot of people recommended Marvels.

Ultimate Xmen Vol 1 + Vol. 2 : The Tomorrow People and the Return of Weapon X By Mark Millard

Ultimate Xmen : The Tomorrow People & The Return of Weapon X ( Trade Paperback) – ★★★★☆

This is the first time that I’m reviewing a comics series so I really don’t know where to begin with. I’m going to start off by telling you that I didn’t get the actual trade paperback but the issues instead ( yes I like collecting them haha). I got the #1 to #12 which is the equivalent Volume 1 and Volume 2 of the trade paperback. Continue reading
